Evelyn L. Sanson

Evelyn L. Sanson, 93, of Carlinville passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 24, 2018, at Heritage Health Care in Carlinville.

Evelyn was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Palmyra, a daughter of Clarence and Opal Stults Wyzard.

She married Lawrence E. “Bill” Sanson on May 12, 1945, in Carlinville.

Evelyn was a homemaker and farm wife, cooking and baking meals for numerous men who were helping on the farm.

She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville and enjoyed tole painting, cooking, baking and listening to music. While residing at Morse Farms, she enjoyed playing dominoes with her friends after lunch. Evelyn loved to root for the St. Louis Cardinals on game day.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence E. “Bill” Sanson on May 8, 1997; her faithful dog Holly; and sister, Melba Ann Griffith.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Oct. 28, from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Carlinville, where funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 29. Burial followed in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Judy (Doug) Crabtree of Waggoner, Carolyn (Ron) Killion of Springfield, and Sandra Sue (Rich) Bowman of Chesterfield; son, Gary L. (Lesa) Sanson of Grapevine, Texas; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church Building Fund or Macoupin County T.A.I.L.S..
