Elizabeth Briskovich, 92, of Bunker Hill passed away at 5:44 a.m., Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Heritage Health of Gillespie.

She was born March 22, 1925, in Granite City to Charles and Gertrude (Bequette) Dana. She married George E. Briskovich on June 12, 1948, in Wilsonville; he preceded her in death on Nov. 18, 1979.

Mrs. Briskovich was a homemaker in the early years of their marriage, before working for Olin Winchester Division and retiring at age 62 after 24 years. She was a member of the Machinists Union and the American Legion Auxiliary for many years, as well as a member of St. Mary’s Church of Bunker Hill, where she served on the Altar Society. She enjoyed many hobbies, including cooking, gardening, sewing, crocheting, quilting and crafts; her hands were always busy making something for family and friends until her illness advanced in the last five years.

Surviving are her sons, Michael (Cathi) Briskovich of Shipman and Randall C. (Gina) Briskovich of Bunker Hill; daughters, Joanne (Rory) Kahl of Plainview and Dana (Tom) Benbenek of St. Charles, Mo.; grandchildren, Greg (Joni) Briskovich, Chad (Keri) Briskovich, Kimberly Briskovich, Zebadiah Briskovich, Shawn Garrett, Bobbie Jo (Terry) Blevins, Staci (Greg) Blevins, Robbie (Tracy) Kahl, Samantha Watson and Alexander Watson; step-grandchildren, Steffanne (Josh) Adkins, Tommy Benbenek, Hayden Benbenek and Quin Benbenek; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Rita Smith of Bunker Hill and Helen (Steve) Zink of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Dana, Allie Dana and Joe Dana; and sisters, Bernice Dana, Trudy King, Margaret Oldenettel and Bobbie Katich.

Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m., Thursday, July 6. at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 7, at the funeral home, with Father George Radosevich officiating. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bunker Hill.
