Dr. James Arthur Wallace
Preceding him in death were his parents, Willie and Leola Wallace and Erceline Boyd; and an aunt and uncle, Tressie and Clyde Bruton.
James graduated from Ball High School in 1969. He received his bachelor’s degree from Blackburn College, his master’s degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale and his doctorate degree from Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas. He was a past professor at Southern Illinois University and was a professor at Eastern Illinois University.
Surviving are his son Wyatt A. Wallace of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Virtle (Muriel) Fowler of Friendswood, Texas and Henrietta Boyd of LaMarque, Texas; two brothers, Willie Boyd of Houston, Texas and Alonzo (Veronica) Boyd of LaMarque, Texas; two aunts, Lois Clark of Hesperian, Calif. and Lola Lee of Los Angeles, Calif.; and five cousins, Adonis Bruton, Barbara Carraway, Rhonda Alcorn, Vanessa Hearne and Clyde Bruton Sr. all of Texas City, Texas.
A memorial service honoring his life was held Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at 3:30 p.m., at the Buzzard Hall Auditorium on the campus of Eastern Illinois University.
