Help sought for solving burglaries
The Macoupin County Sheriff’s Department is seeking help in solving several burglaries which have occurred recently in the area.
On Nov. 26, at approximately 2 a.m., a convenience store was broken into and the automated teller machine removed from the store.
On Nov. 29, at approximately 3:30 a.m., a bar reported its automated teller machine was taken from inside the establishment.
In both instances, the suspect or suspects used forced entry. The entry in and out of the business took less than five minutes, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The two burglaries are believed to be connected to similar burglaries in surrounding counties.
Video surveillance from the crime scene shows: A male suspect who looks to be in his late 60s with a heavy build, wearing a veterans hat, flannel shirt and blue jeans. The vehicle is possibly a Chevrolet Avalanche pickup with a hard-top bed cover. The color of the vehicle is unknown.
