Lawsuits

Lisa McWard filed a complaint July 17 against Theresa McNaught of Waverly and Otter Lake Water Community, in connection to a July  14 incident in which the plaintiff was allegedly injured. The plaintiffs seek a judgment in excess of $50,000 plus he cost of the suit. The plaintiff suffered permanent disabling injuries, incurred substantial medical bills and lost wages, it is alleged. Count one stems from an incident in which McNaught allegedly negligently operated a watercraft, failed to keep control and lookout for passengers, accelerated in a restricted area, and accelerated while McWard was exiting the craft to aid docking. Count 2 alleges Otter Lake Water Community failed to put hand rails to aid in docking.

Resurgence Capital, Inc. filed a complaint July 17 against Jeffrey Korte and Cindy Korte of Brighton seeking $14,743.45 and attorney fees of $350 for failure to make required payments set forth in a contract over the purchase of a vehicle.

Alexander Loveless of Gillespie filed a complaint in forcible entry and detainer July 22 against Byron S. and Jamie Whaley of Benld seeking possession of property in Benld and rent of $694.

Alexander Loveless of Gillespie field a complaint in forcible entry and detainer July 22 against Beverly D. Tilley of Gillespie seeking possession of property in Gillespie and rent of $1460 including returned check fees.

Alexander Loveless of Gillespie field a complaint in forcible entry and detainer July 22 against Dennis B. and Keisha M. Henson of Wilsonville seeking possession of property in Wilsonville and rent of $1420.34 covering parts of rent for March, April, May, June, all of July and the water bill.

Felonies

Kyle R. Paul, 28, Buffalo, has been charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine in connection with a July 16 incident in which he allegedly possessed less than five grams of metamphetamines.

Trent A. Green, 37, Girard, has been charged with aggravated battery after a July 18 incident in which he allegedly knowingly caused bodily harm to a child under the age of 13 by throwing a crystal bowl at the child, striking the child in the mouth.

Steven B. Pesavents, 29, Benld, has been charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamines after a July 19 incident in which he allegedly possessed less than five grams of methamphetamines.

Daniel C. Crump, 49, Virden, has been charged with aggravated assault after a July 18 incident in which he allegedly knowingly operated a moving vehicle in a way which put another individual in harm. It is alleged he dove a red Chrevrolet through an individuals backyard, almost striking him.

Amber N. Robbins, 26, Gillespie, has been charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamines after a July 18 incident in which she allegedly possessed more than 100 grams but less than 400 grams of metamphetamines.

Richard C. Morgan, 30, of Gillespie has been charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamines after a July 20 incident in which she allegedly possessed more than 100 grams but less than 400 grams of metamphetamines.

Edward B.Z. Dunn, 22, Carlinville, has been charged with retail theft after a July 22 incident in which he allegedly  took a cell phone, scan disc card, tube of BB projectiles, black OPS revolver BB gun and a walther BB gun, all in excess of $300 from the Carlinville Wal-Mart.

Nathaniel D. Spoon, 23, Virden, has been charged with aggravated battery after a June 14 incident in which he used a deadly weapon, a baseball bat, to strike an individual in the arm.

Kurtis P. Bellm, 34, Plainview, has been charged with aggravated domestic battery after a July 26 incident in which he allegedly put a chokehold around the neck of an individual.

Shawn A. Morgan, 51, Girard has been charged with aggravated battery  after a July 24 incident in which he allegedly made contact of an insulting or provoking nature with a peace officer.

Larry R. Spencer, 22, Ferguson, Mo., has been charged with obstructing justice after a July 25 incident in which he allegedly furnished false information to a peace officer.

Misdemeanors

Phillip J. Smith, 35, Virden, has been charged with domestic battery after a July 18 incident in which he allegedly pushed an individual to the ground.

Shawn M. Fugate, 28, Virden, has been charged with criminal trespassing of a motor vehicle after a July 18 incident in which he allegedly knowingly and without authority entered a vehicle of another individual.

Deanna R. Renfroe, 34, Staunton, has been charged with domestic battery following a July 18 incident in which she allegedly struck another individual in the bicep with a piece of wood.

Michael B. Wofford, 41, Staunton, has been charged with domestic battery after  a July 18 incident in which he allegedly punched another individual in the eye.

Kathy D. Tibbs, 45, Virden, has been charged with domestic battery following a July 21 incident in which she allegedly struck another individual with an open hand to the face.

Scott Ward, 18, Jacksonville, has been charged with illegal consumption of alcohol after a July 21 incident in which he allegedly consumed a beer being under the age of 21 in Carlinville.

James F. Fulton, 74, Sawyerville, has been charged with battery after a July 19 incident in which he allegedly struck an individual in the chest with a closed fist.

Florian A. Drew, 68, Virden, has been charged with criminal trespass of real property following a July 23 incident in which he allegedly remained at a property after receiving notice from a resident that entry was forbidden.

Zachary A. Bowman, 20, Carlinville, has been charged with domestic batter following a July 26 incident in which he allegedly caused bodily harm  to an individual by hitting the individual in the mouth with a fist.

Scott M. Daniels, 42, Godfrey, has been charged with violation of a court order after a July 25 incident in which he allegedly intentionally committed an act prohibited by an Order of Protection by calling and leaving a message on an individual’s answering machine.

Accidents

Devyn B. Schehl, 18, Mt. Olive was involved in a one-vehicle accident at 9:52 p.m. July 25 in Mt. Olive at the intersection of Route 66 and Route 138.  Schehl, driving a 2004 Pontiac GTO, sustained front bumper damage after hitting a raccoon which had entered the highway. He was traveling north on Route 66 at the time.

Larry O. Bussman, 69, Moro was involved in a one-vehicle accident at 10:15 p.m. July 26 in Shipman, at the intersection of Route 111 and Prairie Dell Road. Bussman was driving a 2003 Honda Civic south on Route 111 at Prairie Dell Road when he struck a deer standing in the middle of the road, damaging the front end.
