Lawsuits

Crystal D. Mansfield filed a complaint April 24 against Darrell R. Striplin in connection with a June 5, 2016, automobile accident, seeking an amount in excess of $50,000, plus costs and trial by jury.

Linda Mahan filed a complaint in forcible entry and detainer April 25 against Shane and Carmen Bishop, seeking possession of property in Virden and $3,300 rent.

Justin R. Fank filed a complaint in replevin April 27 against Mike Bertolis, seeking possession of a 2005 Harley Davidson valued at $9,490, value of property not delivered, and damages for the detention.

Howard Thursby filed a complaint in forcible entry and detainer May 1 against Greg Brown and unknown tenants/occupants, seeking possession of property in Palmyra, $5,400 rent, court costs and attorney’s fees.

Felonies

Matthew W. Stoops, 26, Staunton, has been charged with stalking in connection with April 17 incidents in which he trespassed two times on an individual’s property, having been convicted four previous times of trespassing on the individual’s property.

Shalita S. Simmons, 37, Carlinville, has been charged with unlawful failure to register as a violent offender in connection with an April 20 incident in which she allegedly failed to complete her annual registration with Carlinville Police Department.

Daniel R. Sawyer, 40, Gillespie, has been charged with unlawful failure to register as a sex offender in connection with an April 20 incident in which he allegedly failed to update his address with Gillespie Police Department after being gone from his last known address for more than three days.

Barry G. Mazzarela, 37, Wood River, has been charged with driving while license revoked in connection with a March 27 incident in which he allegedly drove a 1998 Ford truck on West Eighth Street, Staunton.

Justin C. Dyer, 32, Gillespie, has been charged with driving while license suspended in connection with an April 7 incident in which he allegedly drove a 1990 Chevrolet truck on Macoupin Street in Gillespie.

Eric D. Hurley, 36, Livingston, has been charged with driving while license revoked in connection with a March 30 incident in which he allegedly drove a 2004 GMC truck on Edwardsville Street in Staunton.

Alma E. Narone, 48, Springfield, has been charged with 11 counts of forgery in connection with Jan. 25-29 incidents in which she allegedly delivered false checks to Shell in the amounts of $100, $100.59, $100, $90, $34.95, $86.89, $95, $114.10, $80, $79.09 and $85.04.

Francis L. Koniak, 41, Gillespie, has been charged with aggravated battery in connection with an April 28 incident in which he allegedly threw a phone charger at a person under the age of 13, causing injury.

Heather N. Wadlow, 29, Staunton, has been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance in connection with a Feb. 17 incident in which she allegedly possessed less than 15 grams of a substance containing amphetamine.

Misdemeanors

Chad E. Matesa, 47, Staunton, has been charged with domestic battery and resisting a peace officer in connection with an April 23 incident in which he allegedly dragged an individual against the individual’s will, refused to obey an officer’s commands and had to be forcibly separated from dragging the individual.

Craig A. Erwin, 23, Shipman, has been charged with domestic battery in connection with an April 24 incident in which he allegedly grabbed an individual and pulled the individual from the person’s car and pushed the individual against the side of the vehicle.

Danny R. Carty, 54, Carlinville, has been charged with battery in connection with an April 6 incident in which he allegedly pushed an individual to the ground.

Joshua A. Booker, 37, Virden, has been charged with domestic battery in connection with an April 25 incident in which he allegedly threw an individual down.

Deborah A. Johnessee, 58, Staunton, has been charged with domestic battery in connection with an April 26 incident in which she allegedly struck an individual in the face with her hand.

Charlene M. Giles, 44, Shipman, has been charged with retail theft in connection with an April 10 incident in which she allegedly took kerosene valued at less than $300 from Boente Shell in Carlinville.

Glen T. Deffenbaugh, 35, Carlinville, ha been charged with failure to comply with a dangerous dog order in connection with an April 24 incident in which his dogs were declared dangerous and were in public on Anderson Street, Carlinville, while not under the direct supervision of an individual 18 years of age or older.

DUIs

Robert W. Holden, 30, Jerseyville, has been charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, illegal transportation of alcohol, reckless driving, leaving the scene, and fleeing/attempting to elude an officer in connection with an April 28 incident in which he allegedly drove a white 2003 GMC truck at the intersection of Washington and Warren streets, Bunker Hill.

Heath M. Darr, 35, Shipman, has been charged with two counts of driving under the influence and one count each of illegal transportation of alcohol, driving/operating a non-highway vehicle in a roadway, and stopping, parking or standing on a roadway not in a business or residential area in connection with an April 28 incident in which he allegedly drove a black 2017 Polaris ATV at the intersection of FS Road and  Route 267, south of Medora.
