Lawsuits

Betty Phelps filed a complaint April 24 against Great American Insurance Group for breach of contract in connection wit ha Jan. 16, 2016, fire. She seeks $97,400 and punitive damages of $25,000; plus interest from the date for which the claim should have been paid under the terms of the policy and court costs, including reasonable attorney’s fees.

Jasmina Silic filed a complaint in forcible entry and detainer April 19 against Derek Schehl, seeking possession of property in White City.

Chesterfield State Bank filed a complaint April 20 against Janet Kroeschel, seeking $6,584.39 unpaid on a note, plus interest, attorney’s fees and costs.

Felonies

Joshua S. Dyer, 39, Effingham, has been charged with criminal damage to property and criminal trespass to a residence in connection with an April 13 incident in which he allegedly entered a residence in the 200 block of South Fifth Street, Girard, and caused more than $500 but less than $10,000 damage to a door.

Jennie R. Hudgins, 40, Irving, has been charged with criminal damage to property, criminal trespass to a residence and obstructing a peace officer in connection with an April 13 incident in which she allegedly entered a residence in the 200 block of South Fifth Street, Girard; caused more than $500 but less than $10,000 damage to a door; and ran away from an officer.

Andrew L. Lattina, 23, Staunton, has been charged with unlawful failure to register as a sex offender in connection with an April 15 incident in which he allegedly failed to register with the Staunton chief of police within three days after establishing a new residence in Staunton. He was also charged with driving on a suspended license.

Perry L. Ashby, 47, Girard, has been charged with meth possession (less than five grams) in connection with an April 15 incident.

Brandon D. Butler, 29, Bunker Hill, has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with an April 17 incident in which he allegedly attempted to kick an officer in the head.

Zachariah M. Schmidt, 19, Carlinville, has been charged with sexual relations within families in connection with an April 17 incident in which he allegedly committed an act of sexual penetration with his mother.

Vassilis Kitsos, 33, Benld, has been charged with unlawful possession of meth manufacturing materials and unlawful use of property in connection with an April 18 incident in which he allegedly possessed muriatic acid, sulfuric acid, lye and lithium batteries with the intent they be used to manufacture meth and knowingly allowed the use of a house located at 708 North Eighth Street, Benld, which was under his control, to help bring about a violation of the Meth Control and Community Proitection Act, the possession of meth manufacturing materials.

Jacob M. Parker, 31, Carlinville, has been charged with driving while license revoked in connection with a Feb. 26 incident in which he allegedly drove a  2001 Chevrolet S-10 on Judd Street at Morean Street, Nilwood. He was also charged with improper turn signal, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and illegal transportation of alcohol by a minor.

Ronald O. Loyd, 50, Litchfield, has been charged with unlawful possession of less than five grams of a substance containing meth, unlawful possession of a controlled substance (less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine) and unlawful use of a weapon in connection with an April 21 incident in which he allegedly possessed a weapon commonly known as a black jack.

Haley, 31, Carlinville, has been charged with mob action and battery in connection with an April 23 incident in which she allegedly knowingly, by the use of force, disturbed the public peace in that she, while acting together with two others and without authority of law, struck an individual on and about the face and head with their hands and fists, thereby inflicting injury; and struck the individual in the face with her hand.

Walton, 34, Carlinville, has been charged with mob action and battery in connection with an April 23 incident in which he allegedly knowingly, by the use of force, disturbed the public peace in that he, while acting together with two others and without authority of law, struck an individual on and about the face and head with their hands and fists, thereby inflicting injury; and struck the individual in the face with his hand.

Misdemeanors

Joseph D. Gaither, 21, Belleville, has been charged with theft in connection with a March 5 incident in which he exerted unauthorized control over an individual’s cell phone, valued at less than $500.

Jacqueline A. Saffell, 36, Greenfield, has been charged with three counts of deceptive practices in connection with Feb. 27 incidents in which she allegedly delivered checks for $245, $300 and $200 to Waytown Tavern, knowing her bank would not honor the drafts.

Denyse D. Greff, 47, Virden, has been charged with domestic battery in connection with an April 14 incident in which she allegedly grabbed an individual by the wrist and hand, causing bruising.

Carl L. Stark, 37, Carlinville, has been charged with battery in connection with an April 5 incident in which he allegedly pushed an individual to the ground.

Michael T. Mitchusson, 24, Gillespie, has been charged with domestic battery and resisting a peace officer in connection with an April 19 incident in which he allegedly pushed an individual and ran from an officer after being detained.

Brittany D. Daniels, 26, Carrollton, has been charged with obstructing identification in connection with an Oct. 20, 2016, incident in which she allegedly furnished a false name to an officer who had detained her.

Kevin L. Morgan, 33, Carlinville, has been charged with violation of an order of protection in connection with an April 5 incident in which he allegedly entered a protected location.

Nick L. Hollis, 54, Gillespie, has been charged with battery in connection with an April 17 incident in which he allegedly struck an individual in the face with his fist.

William K. Flowers, 27, Carlinville, has been charged with violation of an order of protection in connection with an April 8 incident in which he allegedly called a protected party.

Matthew B. Graviett, 34, Mt. Olive, ha been charged with domestic battery in connection with an April 23 incident in which he allegedly struck an individual in the head with his hand.

DUI

Todd S. Starks, 29, St. Louis, Mo., has been charged with driving under the influence and illegal transportation of alcohol in connection with an April 15 incident in which he allegedly drove a silver 2013 Acura on Interstate 55 at milepost 42.
