Lawsuits

Timothy W. Elkins Jr. filed a complaint Oct. 3 against Tony Guinn, alleging Guinn threatened Elkins’ life while Elkins was incarcerated, thereby effectively forcing Elkins to plead guilty to an aggravated DUI charge stemming from a 2014 automobile accident. Elkins seeks compensatory damages of $50,000 and a jury trial.

Macoupin County Housing Authority filed a complaint in forcible entry and detainer Sept. 27 against Lindsay Tooley, seeking possession of property in Mt. Olive; rent, late charges, and/or other monies due and owing; reasonable attorney’s fees; and court costs.

Sue Pirok and Doug Kessinger filed a complaint in forcible entry and detainer Oct. 4 against Amanda and John Perkins, seeking possession of property in Benld and $2,500 rent.

Tim Loveless filed a complaint in forcible entry and detainer Oct. 5 against Rebeka A. Hoots, seeking possession of property in Carlinville and $1,372 for rent and late fees.

Felonies

Daniel R. Gooding, 29, Carlinville, has been charged with meth possession (less than five grams) in connection with an Oct. 2 incident.

Donna M. Wise, 49, Carlinville, has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence in connection with a Sept. 22 incident in which she allegedly drove a 2000 Toyota sedan on North Broad Street in Carlinville.

Misdemeanors

Nicholas J. O’Connell, 37, Mt. Olive, has been charged with retail theft in connection with an Oct. 1 incident in which he allegedly took a swimming pool valued at less than $300 from Dollar General in Gillespie.

Megan J. Morgan, 27, Palmyra, has been charged with battery in connection with a Sept. 14 incident in which she allegedly struck an individual in the face with a closed fist.

Jerry R. Huffines Jr., 41, Waverly, has been charged with criminal damage to property in connection with an April 29 incident in which he allegedly caused less than $500 damage to the side mirror of an individual’s car.

Joel G. Hill, 47, Gillespie, has been charged with obstructing a peace officer in connection with an Oct. 2 incident in which he allegedly provided false information to an officer regarding an individual’s whereabouts.

Tanese N. Williams, 32, Girard, has been charged with domestic battery in connection with an Oct. 2 incident in which she allegedly struck an individual in the face with her fist.

Dakota S. Bone, 27, Carlinville, has been charged with domestic battery in connection with an Oct. 3 incident in which he allegedly pushed an individual into a table.

Katie N. Workman, 20, Wilsonville, has been charged with deceptive practices in connection with a July 28 incident in which she allegedly delivered a check for $81.28 to Randy’s Market, knowing her bank would not honor the draft.

Darla J. Marley (a.k.a. McDonald), 57, Taylor Springs, has been charged with deceptive practices in connection with a May 9 incident in which she allegedly delivered a check for $42.51 to Randy’s Market, knowing her bank would not honor the draft.

Suzy Novak, 51, Gillespie, has been charged with deceptive practices in connection with a July 22 incident in which she allegedly delivered a check for $8108.71 to Randy’s Market, knowing her bank would not honor the draft.

Kelli L. Hamann, now 37, Gillespie, has been charged with three counts of deceptive practices in connection with March 5, March 18 and July 21 incidents in which she allegedly delivered checks for $33.10, $13.40 and $32.73, respectively, to Randy’s Market, knowing her bank would not honor the drafts.

Alexis C. Beavers, 22, Palmyra, has been charged with violation of an order of protection in connection with an Oct. 4 incident in which she allegedly entered onto a protected location.

Brittany N. Pollard, now 32, Litchfield, has been charged with theft in connection with a June 4 incident in which she allegedly exerted unauthorized control over an individual’s power pack, hummingbird feeder, rechargeable spotlight and Christmas candy.

DUI

Christopher J. Ballard, 31, Plainview, has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs in connection with an Oct. 1 incident in which he allegedly drove a blue 1991 Ford truck on Route 159 at Rollo Lane, south of Royal Lakes.
