County rejects school facilities tax

County rejects school facilities tax

November 4, 2014 – By a margin of just 101 votes, residents of Macoupin County rejected the county school facilities tax by a vote of 7,689 (49.67 percent) for and 7,790 (50.33 percent) against.

The proposition would have added a 1 percent sales tax on certain items, proceeds of which would have been distributed to all of the schools in the county based on enrollment. The funds would have been used to make improvements to school facilities.
