Council holds short meeting
CARLINVILLE (July 5, 2018) – The opening city council meeting for July took all of about eight minutes Monday night.
In short work, the council went through a light agenda.
Three of the council members – Beth Toon, Cindy Campbell and Sarah Oswald were not present.
The council approved a first read of the salary ordinance.
Salaries of city officials were changed and amended, including the IT Coordinator at a salary of $200 per month; the lake manager at a salary of $23,600 per year; Lake Co-Host with a salary of $13 per hour; and Deputy City Clerk with a salary of $16.09 per hour.
The council approved the second reading of the NewWave Communications franchise agreement. The city will charge five percent for the NewWave franchise, which is what has been done in the past. It is simply a renewal of the contract.
Under correspondence, the city approved an event request from Joey Naples of Uptown Tavern to conduct a cookoff on Sept. 22, and requested use of the alley for charcoal use. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon. Daley St. will be closed during this time. There will be live music.
The council also approved a request from Jennifer Stewart of Carlinville to request the use of the square gazebo for a wedding on Sunday, August 5. The request is for the use of the gazebo from 10:30 a.m. to around 3 p.m.
