CMS scholastic bowl opens season
CARLINVILLE (Feb. 8, 2018) – Carlinville Middle School’s scholastic bowl team opened the season by winning meets against Raymond/Lincolnwood on Jan. 30 and Gillespie on Feb. 1.
The ‘A’ team opened with a tournament at Springfield Franklin on Jan. 27. Three pools of six teams each participated in the tournament, including schools from Bloomington, Springfield, Pleasant Plains and Champaign.
Carlinville won the first consolation bracket, coming in seventh overall. At the tournament, Eli Ratcliff, team captain, was given special recognition for coming in sixth place for most toss-up questions answered by an individual.
