CMS girls, two boys off to cross country
CMS cross country girls, two boys advance to Class 2A state meet
It was a successful sectional run for the Carlinville Middle School Warriors on Saturday at General Dacey Trail in Shelbyville.
The 2015 sectional cross country meet was held, and the Carlinville girls finished third. By doing so, they all qualified for the state meet.
Meanwhile, two Carlinville boys also advanced as the Warriors finished fourth as a team.
Carlinville’s girls opened the sectional by scoring 79 points. Also advancing to state were host Shelbyville Moulton at 41 and Rochester at 66.
The Warriors were led by Jillian Stayton, sixth overall at 13:03. Patty Walch finished 10th at 13:36 and Emily May 16th at 13:57.
Sophia Ruffato was 25th at 14:36; Caroline Gibbel 27th at 14:37; Annabelle Hulin 35th at 15:06
The CMS boys advanced two to state – Briley Roper and Levi Yudinsky.
Roper finished ninth overall at 11:58 and Yudinsky was 10th at 12:00.
Also for Carlinville, Ethan Siglock finished 17th at 12:19; Cale Williams 37th at 13:05; Cameron Strubbe 40th at 13:14; Damon Sharp 43rd at 13:20; Collin Kriepe 61st at 14:02.
The state meet will take place Saturday at Maxwell Park in Normal. The girls race for Class 2A starts at 11 a.m. and the boys race around 11:45 a.m.
