CISL tournaments completed
The Gillespie Elite swung for the girls 12-14 fast pitch softball championship July 27 at Loveless Park in Carlinville. The Elite took the title with a 7-1 win over the Bunker Hill Diamonds.
Team members include Isabella Kochinski, Chloe Segarra, Maddie Geisler, Grace Bertolino, Hannah Barrett, Mataya Beavin, Madison Caselton, Rylan Bruhn, Ambrosia Redmon, Keaton Link, Shelby Taylor, and Elizabeth Dey along with coaches Ronnie Bertolino and Rusty Fredericks. It is the second consecutive year the team has won the title.
Third place in this age group went to Brighton Keith team and fourth place went to Staunton’s Best team.
Gillespie coach Bertolino said, “I’m proud of the hard work the girls have done this season and couldn’t be happier to have coached such a great team.”
It marked the end of another season of Central Illinois Sports League baseball and softball.
Carlinville did win the girls pitching machine league championship. Carlinville’s Foiles team was first, with the Brighton Lucas team second; Gillespie’s Cox team third and Carlinville’s Comer team fourth.
In the 8-10 age group, Carlinville’s Julie Gibson team finished second to Gillespie’s Bertagnolli’ squad with a 1-0 championship game win for Gillespie at Litchfield.
Third place was Staunton’s Anderson team and fourth place with to Brighton’s Seymour team.
In the girls 10-12 age group, Gillespie’s Niemeyer won the title, with Carlinville’s Stayton team second; Mt. Olive’s Buzick team third and Litchfield’s Hickerson team fourth.
Gillespie’s Shaw team won the Pitching Machine tournament, with Bunker Hill Turney team second; Staunton’s Coalson team third and Staunton’s Kilduff team fourth.
In the 8-10 year-old boys, Bunker Hill Girth’s team won the tourney, with Benld Wargo’s team second; Litchfield’s Ryker team third and Carlinville’s Bruckett team fourth.
In the 10-12 boys age group, Brighton’s Brewer team won the tournament, with Litchfield’s Dooley team second; Brighton’s Voorhees team third and Bunker Hill’s Manar team fourth.
The 12-14 boys tournament was won by the Gillespie Ronald team, with Medora Anderson’s team second; the Litchfield Walch team third and the Bunker Hill Morris team fourth.
