CHS golfers keep busy

Carlinville’s boys golf team finished fifth out of six teams Thursday afternoon at Terry Park in Waverly.

Jacksonville Routt stayed hot improving to 32-2 with the team win, shooting a 175.

In second was Auburn at 181, followed by South County at 182; North Mac at 184; Carlinville at 214; and Northwestern at 292.

Tom Sanson led the Cavies this time around, shooting a 51. Payton Jamieson shot a 53; Lucas Mefford 54 and Jay Rosentreter 56.

Medalists were Hunter Mitchell of South County and Colin Dobson of Routt with 41s.

North Mac was led by Justin West with a 42. Northwestern’s top golfer was Mechaela Kaydus with a 63.

SCC Boys meet

The par-72 18-hole Rail Golf Course in Sherman hosted the South Central Conference boys golf meet on Monday afternoon, under very nice conditions.

Hillsboro, led by a pair of freshmen who each shot 75s in Alex Eickhoff and Alex White, won the tournament with ease.

The Toppers had a team score of 327, followed by Litchfield at 373; Vandalia 380; Pana 384; Roxana 391; Southwestern 396; Staunton 413; Carlinville 445; and Greenville 485.

Eickhoff and White tied for medalist honors, while Litchfield’s Alex Bishop finished third at 82; Tony Perfetti of Hillsboro was fourth at 84 and Michael Hrabak of Pana fifth with an 86.

For the Cavies, Mefford shot a 105; Sanson 112; Jamieson 113; and Rosentreter 115.

The girls teed off at Indian Springs on Tuesday for the SCC meet.
