CHS girls soccer shutout at Rochester
By Daniel Winningham
Carlinville High School’s girls varsity soccer team began the season with a 7-0 loss to Rochester March 12.
The Rockets were in front 4-0 at halftime, and, according to CHS coach Tim Gould, possessed the ball in Carlinville’s side of the field for much of the contest.
“They were on the attack for most of the game,” Gould said. “I thought we were a little slow to communicate and get rid of the ball.”
It was difficult to find positives about the 7-0 defeat.
“Our defense at times and moments rotated well and helped one another out, and Ashlee Campbell made a few good saves in goal,” Gould said.
As for the CHS offense, the chances were few and far between, Gould said.
“There were a few moments where we went forward, but it was pretty limited,” he said.
CHS dropped to 0-1 overall while Rochester improved to 1-0.
