CHS girls second at Early Meet

Carlinville High School’s girls cross country team had all five runners finish in the top-25 overall on its way to a second-place showing at the Carlinville Early Meet at Loveless Park Sept. 3.

Senior Lea Viano won the girls’ race in 18:37, followed by sophomore Colleen Madden, 18:38. Sophomore Jacey Roper secured sixth in 19:37.

Senior Darci Bilbruck (21:56) and freshman Kamryn Bremer (22:13) both had strong showings in their first high school races.

Rochester, which had five runners finish in the top-10 including 3, 4, 5, won the team event with 30 points, followed by CHS at 42 points. Litchfield (61), Staunton (123) and Williamsville (169) rounded out the girls’ team scores.

Boys take third
All five of Carlinville’s runners finished in the top-30 as the boys secured a third place finish (61) behind Rochester (30) and Jersey (58).
