Charges filed in connection with manhunt in Gillespie

Two St. Louis men are facing multiple charges in connection with a Gillespie robbery that occurred late Monday, Feb. 6.

Quincy R. Morgan, 23, and Jonathan I. Williams, 19, both face felony charges of mob action for acting together to strike an individual in the head, thereby inflicting injury. They also face charges of battery for the same incident, as well as theft for taking the individual’s Apple iPhone, valued at less than $500.

In addition, Williams is charged with obstruction of justice for furnishing a false name, Jalyn Williams, to Gillespie Police Officer Jassen Stinnett when asked to identify himself.

Both are being held at Macoupin County Jail on $50,000 bond and are set to appear in front of Judge Joshua Meyer for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 28.
