Cavaliers take down Mohawks, stay undefeated

Carlinville High School’s girls softball team routed Morrisonville High School 20-0 in a five inning non-conference contest March 19.

CHS cranked out 16 hits and scored in every inning on its way to the win. The Cavaliers scored once in the first and fourth innings, and pushed across six runs in the second, third and fifth innings.

Carley Kulenkamp had three hits, including two triples, and drove in three runs.

Alex Mullink also had three hits in the shutout victory.

Baylee Hughes finished with two hits and scored three runs.

Ashley Starr contributed three hits and scored three times.

Hughes surrendered just two hits to earn the win. She is now 2-0 on the season.

Carlinville improved to 4-0 this season with the shortened 20-0 road victory.

With the March 24 snowstorm, it remains unclear when CHS when be able to play again.

The Cavaliers were scheduled to host Nokomis March 21 but the game was postponed. A home contest against Auburn in Divernon March 25 (moved from March 22 due to the CHS Musical) also has been postponed. CHS also is scheduled to take on Brussels March 27 but with CISCO Field covered in snow that game will have to be rescheduled for later this season.

Carlinville has a road contest set for March 29 at Vandalia plus home games April 1 (against Staunton) and April 2 (against Jersey).
