The names and numbers for a few of the key players may have been different, but the end result looked strikingly similar to 2012.

Carlinville High School’s varsity football team piled up 414 yards rushing and found the end zone five times via running plays on its way to a 45-15 victory at Roxana High School Aug. 30.

“We have a new look offensively with the no huddle and I thought our kids did a great job tonight in the heat, (with the) tempo and pace of the game,” said CHS head coach Chad Easterday. “I really thought we wore on them as the game went on.”

Junior running back Kinney Myles, Jr., had two touchdown runs of 65-plus yards and finished the game with 248 yards on just 13 carries.

Quarterback Joeb Easterday also reached pay dirt twice, scoring from 13 yards and again from 25 yards on the final play of the third quarter.roxana

LaDarius Dunlap also showed big-play ability, scoring Carlinville’s first touchdown of the season on a 20-yard rush. For the game, Dunlap contributed 111 yards on 13 rushing attempts.

C. Easterday was pleased with the team’s ability to rush the football.

“The play by LaDarius (Dunlap), the play by Joeb (Easterday), Kinney (Myles), we had a group effort tonight that was by far one of the best we’ve had in a while,” he said.
