CHS to host Vandalia Sept. 6-JFLupdate

footballCarlinville High School’s varsity football team looks to remain unbeaten when it hosts Vandalia High School Friday, Sept. 6.

CHS head coach Chad Easterday thinks the home crowd will be a big advantage for CHS.

“It’s a tough place to go,” he said. “We provide a pretty loud environment, so we’re looking forward to it.”

The Vandals fell 46-12 at Gillespie Aug. 30.

Easterday isn’t sure what to expect from the Vandals later this week.

“I know they’re kind of young like Roxana so we’ll have to wait and see,” he said.

CHS defeated VHA 32-14 on Aug. 31, 2012 in a game delayed by the remnants of a hurricane/tropical storm as lightning and thunderstorms arrived and had players, coaches and fans taking cover to wait for  play to resume.

The Cavaliers are 5-1 in their past six match-ups with Vandalia. The last loss was Oct. 24, 2008 when the Vandals won 33-18 at home.

From 2009-2012, Carlinville has won each contest by an average score of 35.5-15.25.

The closest contest was in 2011 when CHS defeated Vandalia 28-21 at home.
