On Saturday, the Carlinville Public Schools Foundation hosted its annual trivia night fundraiser at the Carlinville Elks Lodge. Approximately $6,000 was raised. All proceeds were made towards district educational needs that couldn’t be met through traditional funding sources, such as learning software, IPads, tablets, chromebooks, scientific equipment, furniture, band instruments, art supplies, academic competition travel expenses, teacher aids and much more.

A total of 23 teams participated in the event and engaged in ten rounds of brain exercises for a grand total of 100 questions. Some categories included famous birthdays, Name That Year, animated character voice actors, First Ladies, music, Illinois trivia and advertising slogans. Team Boggs Roger Duff, Lori Duff, Darin Boggs, Beth Boggs, Ed Blakemore, Curt Sawyer, Michelle Sawyer and Cindi Sims (Table 10) of St. Louis answered 96 questions correctly and walked away as the champion and winner of $100. Table 8, a group of Carlinville School District teachers, placed runner-up and received a cash prize as well. Both teams generously donated their winnings back to the foundation. Chris Williams of Carlinville was chosen as the lucky raffle winner and also donated his prize back to the Carlinville schools.

“We were honored and humbled by the terrific turnout and support for the event that we get from the community each year. Our school district is a source of pride for the community as a whole and our organization. We will continue to strive in providing students with the tools that they need to learn and succeed,” said Byron J. Sims.
