Carlinville Boy’s Cross Country finish Sixth
Girls place 15th in the Spartan Classic Tournament
CARLINVILLE: (Sept. 27, 2018) – Out of a field of 26 teams, Carlinville Boy’s Cross Country finished sixth in the St. Joe-Ogden Spartan Classic held on Saturday, September 22. Jacob Landon led the pack with a time of 16:39.73 and ended up finishing 33 out of 186 runners.
Bailey Lippold was on the heels of Landon and finished just four seconds behind Landon. Lippold clocked in at 16:43.04 which was good enough to earn him a 36th place finish.
Landon averaged a blistering 5:33 per mile time while Lippold tipped the scales at 5:34 per mile.
Remaining five runners for Carlinville in the order they finished were Cale Williams, Briley Roper, Dustin Roberts, Colin Kreipe, and Max Wilson. Carlinville was the only team from Macoupin County participating in the tournament.
The team from Monticello High School finished first and Monticello’s Garrett Dixon finished led the race with a time of 14:40. He averaged 4:53 per mile. Monticello scored a 78 while Carlinville came in at 242.
Carlinville Girls Cross Country
The Carlinville Girls Cross Country team accompanied the boys to the Spartan Tournament and finished 16th as a team with a score of 434.
Senior Molly Lewis crossed the finish line first for Carlinville with a time of 20:35. She averaged 6:52 per mile and placed 55th overall. Running companion Julianna Schmidt finished 67th with a time of 21:01.
Rounding out the team for Carlinville were Patty Walch, Braylee Gilmore, Nanami Owada and Naomi Owada.
The Unity High School team pulled down the first place finish with a score of 62. However, Alyssa McPike for Monticello placed first overall with a time of 17:36. Second place finish went to Ailey Mitchell of Shelbyville High School.
