Capital City Blitz blasts through season

Capital City BlitzCarlinville’s Alyssa DeSpain was part of a select softball team that won multiple tournaments this summer and recently finished its 2013 season.

The 12 and under Capital City Blitz softball team, based out of Springfield, competed in the “A” Division Northern National Fast Pitch Softball Tournament in Bloomington, Ind. July 25-28.

The team finished its season with a record of 92-13, with 13 tournament championships across four states.

Sponsors for the 2013 Capital City Blitz season were: Area Diesel Service Inc., CISCO Steel, Farm Credit Services, First to the Finish and Sievers Equipment.

The team’s season began in March and ended in late July. The team won 13 of the 16 tournaments it competed in.
