Slug: PR – CAH blood drive
During Carlinville Area Hospital’s May 3 blood drive, 70 people registered to donate, with 60 pints being collected by the end of the drive.
Among those who donated were first-timers Paul Helms and Joe Konneker. Several previous donors reached notable collection levels, with Jacob Pierson, Therese Reid, and Cindy Tipps reaching one gallon; Kenny Lott achieving the three-gallon mark; and Christine Goldstein and Donald Martin reaching the seven-gallon level. All are from Carlinville.
Three of Carlinville’s banks donated $25 gift cards that were given away in a random drawing. Winners were Randy Duncan (CNB Bank and Trust), Ken Eaglehoff (U.S. Bank), and Scott Riechmann (United Community Bank).
Auxiliary drive coordinator Joan Klaus issued a “thank you” to all of the people who registered and donated. “We always say thank you to our donors, and we always mean it very sincerely. They deserve not just a verbal thank you but stand-up applause,” she said. “We also thank the banks for their gift card prizes, the Elks Lodge for hosting, Prairie Farms for juice and milk, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the Rural Methodist Church for preparing and serving their tasty sandwiches and cookies, and the lions club for setup and tear-down services. And our drives would certainly be less efficient and friendly without the help of our auxiliary volunteers, so they always earn a special thank you.”
