CAH Auxiliary selling bricks

Carlinville Area Hospital Auxiliary is selling personalized etched bricks, to be set into the patio near the hospital’s entrance later this year, probably in the fall. The mid-year deadline for submitting orders to the engraving company is Friday, June 30.

Each brick costs $125, tax deductible, and has room for three lines of text with 20 characters (including punctuation and spaces) per line.

“Since the new hospital was built in 2011, we have sold 276 etched, personalized brick pavers,” said sales coordinator and Auxiliary treasurer Judy Minster. “Most of those were sold in the very beginning to help the Auxiliary satisfy its pledge of $100,000 toward the new facility. Kay Craig came up with the idea back then and led the initial effort very successfully. But we have continued to sell them for the last six years because people hear about them for the first time or want to buy a second or third brick to pay tribute to some person — often a friend or family member who has recently passed away — or a group or business.”

Minster explained that some people buy the bricks simply to contribute to the Auxiliary’s work on behalf of the hospital, while others buy them to promote their organization or business. “Regardless of the reasons, the etched bricks continue to be popular, and the money goes to a good cause,” said Minster.

Order forms are available at various businesses in Carlinville or by calling Minster at (217) 854-6663. Minster can also help with choosing wording to fit the three line, 20-character format. Checks must be made payable to Carlinville Area Hospital Auxiliary and may be dropped off at or mailed to Judy Minster, 503 E. First North St., Carlinville, IL 62626.

Carlinville Area Hospital Auxiliary is currently taking orders for commemorative bricks such as these, to be placed in the patio near the hospital entrance.
