Bakers celebrate 50th anniversary

CARLINVILLE (August 24, 2017) – Deacon Denny and Kathy Baker recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married Aug. 5, 1967, at St. Mary’s Church in Carlinville.

Mrs. Baker is the daughter of the late Donald and Elinora Keohane. Deacon Baker is the son of William Baker of East Alton and the late June Baker.

Deacon Baker worked as a youth minister for more than 40 years before becoming a Catholic deacon. He is currently assigned to the Catholic parishes of Ss. Mary and Joseph in Carlinville, Ss Simon and Jude in Gillespie and St. Joseph in Benld.

Mrs. Baker is a registered nurse and spent more than 35 years working in long-term care, including more than 16 years with the Illinois Department of Public Health in various capacities. Currently, she is the faith community nurse for Ss. Mary and Joseph, Ss. Simon and Jude and St. Joseph’s.

They have five children, Kevin (Robin) of Powder Springs, Ga., Denny (fiancee Melissa of Eldridge, Iowa), Kristen of Auburn, Mark of Divernon and Megan of Park Forest; and nine grandchildren, Alyssa, Brock, Caty, Gavin, Ben, Grace, Greta, Noah and Beau,

A small celebration of close friends and family was held by their children at the Moose Club on Aug. 5. They couple plan a vacation to the western states in the near future.
