Anniversary – Strohbeck 60th
Lloyd and Nancy Strohbeck recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.
They were married at 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 26, 1956, at Memorial Christian Church. Bridal attendants were Patricia (Totsch) Crawford, matron of honor; Judy (Totsch) Gunning, bridesmaid; and Cindy (Crawford) McFarland, flower girl. The groom’s attendants were James Taggart, best man; Roy Lee Strohbeck, groomsman; and William Totsch, ring bearer.
Mr. Strohbeck is the son of Roy and Edna Mae (Fite) Strohbeck. Shortly after the wedding, he began a two-year stint in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge from service, he returned to work at Prairie Farms until his retirement after 37 years.
Mrs. Strohbeck is the daughter of Ralph and Forrest (Caudle) Totsch. She worked as a registered nurse for 40 years before retiring; the majority of her work years were at Carlinville Area Hospital.
After retirement, both volunteered for the LINK program at Carlinville Middle School and also at Macoupin County Historical Society. Mrs. Strohbeck spent several years leading craft activities at Sunshine Manor, as well as being actively involved at Memorial Christian Church. Mr. Strohbeck was active in the local gun club, including service as an NRA-certified instructor.
They have four children, Peggy (Mike) Graham, Sally Strohbeck, Ron (Carol) Strohbeck and Randy (JoAnn) Strohbeck; 10 grandchildren, Ben (Alana) Graham, Katie (Doug) Graham Bates, Jeremy Graham, Anthony (Tabitha) Graham, Christy Partner, Michelle Santiago, Chris (Holly) Strohbeck), Carl Strohbeck, Nick Raney and Matt Hank; five great-grandchildren and a new great-granddaughter due in October.
The Strohbecks celebrated with a family dinner on Sunday, Aug. 28.
