All-American cross country runner has Carlinville ties
Colorado College senior Katie Sandfort has been named an All-American after completing her college cross country career at the NCAA Division II national championship meet in Louisville, Ky. on Nov. 19.
Sandfort is a former resident of Carlinville, and the granddaughter of Carlinville resident Sharon Sandfort.
She ran a personal best time of 21:13 in the 6K race at the national meet, earning her All-America status and helping her team to a 12th place finish, equaling the college’s best finish in program history.
Both Sandfort and teammate Leah Wessler surpassed the previous school record of 21:41.
