4-H beef, cat and sheep shows a hit
4-H members displayed their projects at the 4-H Beef Show on June 27 at the Macoupin County Fairgrounds. Important factors in rating the 4-H animals are showmanship, quality, fitting and overall care of their animal.
Jordan Ruppert judged this year’s show and awarded the following winners: Grand Champion Female, Sam Wolff, of Brighton ; Reserve Grand Champion Female, Mackenzie Wolff, of Brighton; Grand Champion Steer, Adam Boeck, of Gillespie; Reserve Grand Champion Steer, Jerod Brown, of Gillespie; Junior Showmanship, Sam Wolff, of Brighton; Intermediate Showmanship, Isabelle Wolff, of Brighton; Senior Showmanship, Josh Wolff, of Brighton; Class Champions; Sr. Yearling Heifer Calf, Mackenzie Wolff; Early Junior Yearling Heifer Calf, Sam Wolff; Intermediate Jr. Yearling Heifer, Samuel Wolff; Jr. Heifer Calf, Isabelle Wolff; and Steer, Adam Boeck
Trophies and awards for the 4-H Beef Show were donated by Prairie Town Feed and Richard and Dianna Hurst.
4-H members brought their cats and kittens to be shown at the 2013 4-H Cat Show held June 25, at the Macoupin County Fairgrounds.
The felines were judged on their temperament, grooming, appearance and overall health. Julie Gaines of Murrayville served as judge for this event and Kim Barber of Carlinville was the show superintendent.
The winners were: Best of Show Cat, Elizabeth GeRue, Girard; Reserve Champion Cat, Joe Robbins, Bunker Hill; Best of Show Kitten, Hailey Driscol, Modesto

4-H members participated in the Sheep Show June 25 at the Macoupin County Fairgrounds.
During the 4-H Sheep Show, 4-H members were given the opportunity to display their skills in their sheep projects. Throughout the project year they work on showmanship, fitting and the overall care of their animals.
