Fire engulfs car in Carlinville
CARLINVILLE (Aug. 24, 2017) – The Carlinville Fire District was called to a late-morning car fire Aug. 16 at 716 North Chiles Street, Carlinville.
When first responders arrived at the scene, flames were visible from the engine compartment of a small red SUV that was parked in the driveway. The flames were high enough to damage the eave of the home, as well as the garage door.
The Girard Fire Department was called as a precaution in case fire spread to other parts of the home. Although the house suffered signifant damage, firefighters were able to contain the blaze and save the structure. The vehicle is a total loss.
According to Macoupin County on-line assessment records, the home is the property of James K. Gwinn.
