1993 NSCAA National Champions to Be Honored

The 1993 Blackburn College women’s basketball team will be honored this Saturday, Feb. 9 in remembrance of winning the National Small College Athletic Association National Championship.

Blackburn was 24-7 that year and won the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season with a perfect 12-0 record. Blackburn defeated Maryville University in the SLIAC post-season tournament to sweep the conference championships.

Team members were Teena Rhoads, Lisa Pliskin, Karen Tuttle, Brittnie Springer, Shelley Dixon, Lynn Whisenton, Marsha Campbell, Tonya Brand, Sara Frankford, Kristen Smith and Bridgette Brand. Head Coach was Jim Sexton and his assistant was Pete Gordon.

The ceremony will take place at halftime of the women’s basketball game as the Beavers host Westminster College at 1 p.m.
